TOPIC:

RISING WEALTH INEQUALITY: INTERGENERATIONAL LINKS, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, AND THE DECLINE IN INTEREST RATE

In this paper we examine the link between the rise in wealth inequality and the decline in the world interest rates in a model populated with altruistic households and entrepreneurs. The decline in the borrowing rate benefits the entrepreneurs at the expense of the savers. It increases the entrepreneurial activity and wealth resulting in an increase in wealth inequality.
