SMU Associate Professor of Economics (Practice) and Programme Director of MSc Applied Economics Tan Kim Song was one of the speakers at a panel discussion, sponsored by SMU and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), on the new IMF book Frontier and Developing Asia – The Next Generation of Emerging Markets. The discussion explored the prospects for frontier Asian economies to become the next generation of emerging markets and to join the group of middle-income countries, as well as how policymakers should confront this challenge while focusing on managing risks and vulnerabilities. The event was attended by other directors and professors from academia, government agencies and the private sector.
