In a latest ranking of Top 100 Worldwide Economics Schools, SMU School of Economics (SOE) has emerged as Asia’s second top economics school, ranked 65th in the world, which represents a leap of 19 places from its position in 2011. The top three Universities are Harvard University, Chicago University and New York University respectively. The ranking is created by Tilburg University, the Netherlands. The database covers publications in 36 leading economics journals and the ranking is based on research contributions in the leading international journals in the preceding five-year period (2007-2011). Other Asian universities which made it to the ranking include NUS at 60th, HKUST at 93rd and Tsinghua University at 98th.
